Further to address that I didn’t go into within this video as it would have longed it out but sugar-sweetened beverages (containing added sugar not naturally occurring sugars) are associated with a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and CVD mortality. To assess whether this association for fructose-containing sugars is associated with a higher risk, current evidence does not support that fructose-containing sugars independent of food form are associated with increased risk and that consumption of fruit or vegetables are associated with a lower risk compared to sugar-sweetened beverages/added sugar intake.
